For centuries the Chinese have commemorated their ancestors and deceased relatives and loved ones around April 5 each year. They visit the graves, present offerings and perform rituals with love and prayers. For this reason, for the past twenty plus years the Ocean of Merit has sponsored Amitabha ritual for the deceased, presided over by the very venerable Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche.
Amitabha Ritual for the Deceased at KTD Monastery
Sponsored by Ocean of Merit
This year the Ocean of Merit is honored to have Khenpo Ugyen lead the Amitabha ritual at KTD. The ritual is called jangchok, literally inscription ritual, in which the names of the deceased are written on paper and blessed. A brief ritual for the wellbeing and longevity of the living will also be performed at the end.
